As part of the Thermo Fisher Scientific team, you’ll discover meaningful work that makes a positive impact on a global scale. Join our colleagues in bringing our Mission to life every single day to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We provide our global teams with the resources needed to achieve individual career goals while helping to take science a step beyond by developing solutions for some of the world’s toughest challenges, like protecting the environment, making sure our food is safe or helping find cures for cancer.

DESCRIPTION:

Are you energetic, organized, and passionate about creating engaging experiences for others? We're looking for a Per Diem Activities & Events Coordinator to help plan and lead meaningful programs that bring people together in our flagship Austin clinic. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys interacting with participants, thinking creatively, and ensuring every activity is welcoming, well-organized, and enjoyable.

If you thrive in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same and enjoy making a positive impact through engaging events and activities, we'd love to hear from you.

Position Summary

The Activities & Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, facilitating, and evaluating a variety of participant activities, recreational programs, and special events. This role is actively involved in every stage of programming—from preparation and setup to leading activities and post-event cleanup.

Success in this position requires creativity, flexibility, strong organizational skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with participants while delivering exceptional experiences.

What You'll Do

  • Plan, organize, and facilitate engaging participant activities, events, and special programs
  • Lead and actively participate in activities, encouraging involvement and creating a welcoming atmosphere
  • Prepare activity materials, supplies, schedules, and event spaces in advance
  • Set up and break down activity spaces while ensuring all materials are organized and available
  • Coordinate day-of event logistics and provide hands-on support throughout activities
  • Track attendance, participation, and maintain accurate activity documentation
  • Monitor inventory and assist with ordering or organizing program supplies
  • Communicate professionally with participants, staff, and other stakeholders
  • Provide administrative support including filing, scanning, copying, data entry, and correspondence as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and a participant-centered approach
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in activities coordination, recreation, event support, customer service, or a related field preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Creative, proactive, and able to think on your feet
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer systems
  • Professional, dependable, and committed to maintaining confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience planning or leading group activities, recreation programs, or events
  • Experience working with diverse populations in an inclusive and respectful manner
  • Familiarity with scheduling systems, attendance tracking, or inventory management
  • Comfortable engaging directly with participants and leading hands-on activities

Core Competencies

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Organized and dependable
  • Friendly, approachable, and engaging
  • Creative and resourceful
  • Adaptable in a changing environment
  • Service-oriented with a positive attitude
  • A strong planner with excellent follow-through
  • Able to prioritize multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Comfortable working in a participant-focused environment

Work Schedule

This is a per diem position with hours scheduled based on operational needs. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be required to support activities, events, and participant programming.

Work Environment

This position combines behind-the-scenes planning with active participant engagement. The Activities Coordinator should enjoy working with people, creating memorable experiences, and ensuring activities run smoothly from start to finish. The role requires standing, walking, setting up equipment and materials, and moving throughout activity spaces as needed.

Why Join Us?

As an Activities & Events Coordinator, you'll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by creating experiences that foster engagement, connection, and enjoyment for participants. If you enjoy planning events, interacting with people, and bringing energy and organization to every program, we'd love to welcome you to our team.
